Special Assistant to Chief Minister for Higher Education and Information Mushtaq Ahmad Ghani approved One Billion Rupees Research Grant for Islamia College Peshawar.

Special Assistant to Chief Minister for Higher Education and Information Mushtaq Ahmad Ghani Tuesday said PTI-led Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government believes in high quality research work at university level and encouraging public sector varsities of the province to produce research papers in various fields.
Speaking as a chief guest at a seminar on “importance and promotion of research work” here at Islamia College, he said that KP Chief Minister has approved Rs. 980 million for the establishment of center for interdisciplinary Research in Materials (CRIM) adding it would be unique and first of its kind research center in the region.
Ghani said, CIRM would not only facilitate students and teachers from around the region to conduct their research at the centre under the supervision of experts of every fields but also save funds being used as overseas scholarships every year under the faculty development program.
He said such centers are the demand of our local industry as well and the provincial government intends to establish the research center at par with the technologically advanced countries to produce highly skilled indigenous M.Phil and PhD level graduates.
He emphasized upon more research work in various fields of science and technology to meet the future demands of the country, saying that with the changing global scenario only those nation would be able to survive who would be scientifically and technologically advanced.
Keeping in view the importance of technical education, he explained that provincial government had recently signed MoU with the five schools of Austria to follow their model technical education here by public sector universities.
Later, he congratulated the organizers, the staff of the office of the research innovation and commercialization of Islamia College for arranging the event, adding such gatherings would leads to long term collaborations among scientific and academicians and industries.
Later on, the Vice Chancellor Islamia College Ajmal Khan presented souvenir to the chief guest.
