Business Plan Competition held at Entrepreneurship Development Center, IMSciences

IM|Sciences, the leading institute of Khyber Pakhunkhwa organized an intervarsity Business Plan Competition for both public and private sector universities of the province on the 28th of Oct 2015. In this competition a total of 6 universities participated in which Islamia College Peshawar, IM|Sciences (host university), UET Peshawar, Shaheed Benazir Bhutto University (previously knows as Frontier Women University), Sarhad University of Science and Information Technology, IBMS Agriculture University were included. Each university sent 2-3 teams to present their business plans respectively. The objective of the competition was to provide a platform in order to undertake a healthy competition among the students of Business Departments and an exposure towards entrepreneurial activities. Top level industrialists and Practitioners talked and shared their experiences and opportunities available in the market.

As far as Islamia college was concerned, Department of Management Sciences brought two business plans; Little angel day care (Founded/Supervised by Ms. Rabia Naseer, Co-Supervised by Ms. Maimoona Saleem & presented by Mr. Sajid Noor; student of BBS 4th semester) and the other one was Kaltoor (Founded/Supervised by Ms. Rabia Naseer, Co-Supervised by Ms. Sonia Sethi, Presented by Mr. Aamir Afzal and Social Media Expert was Mr. Ihsan Ullah; Students of BBA Hons, 8th semester). The competition was judged by industrialists and Practitioners of KP; Mrs. Nasira Lughmani, President, WCCI (Women Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Peshawar), Mr. M. Ismail, Founder/Managing Director of Kokane, IMBloggers (Peshawar) & B52 (Islamabad), Mr. Salman, Founder/Managing Director of Food Punch, Peshawar. Mr. Haris Mufti, Managing Director of Fedro Pharmaceutical, Ex-Partners of Hamdard group, Peshawar and Mr. Owais Mufti, Assistant Professor/Coordinator Research & Development Department, IM|Sciences.

Competition was comprised of 2 levels; first level was about to present the whole idea in 15 minutes by each group and in the second level, Judges asked critical questions for a whole 30 minutes regarding the feasibility, execution, risks associated, and future concerns of the business.  In the second level, 4 teams were shortlisted in which 2 of them were Islamians with the highest scores. After the mind blowing performance in the second level by defending business plans; Alhamdulillah, Islamians’ got first prize for the business plan of Little Angel Day Care and proudly received a winning shield, certificates, and Cash prize of Rs. 35,000.

While praising Islamians’ efforts; Director EDC, IM|Sciences said, “Islamia College deserves a reward more than a First Prize” was the memorable moment of the event.
