It is a great honour and privilege for me to record my message as the Vice Chancellor of this iconic seat of learning on the highly auspicious occasion of its centenary celebrations. In its 100-year journey of glory and accomplishments, this great institution has provided leadership to the nation in all walks of life, along with breeding four universities and numerous schools and colleges on the Campus. It is heartening to see its alumni and associates world-over remembering it with such passion and devotion. The nation has appreciated its contribution in multiple ways, including printing its image on the most transacted currency notes. But nothing could be a better appreciation than the three monumental visits of the Founder of Pakistan and his subsequently donating to it one third of his property.
Nonetheless, we shouldn’t just relish its rich past. Having become a University in 2008, it is now facing new challenges in order to establish its caliber as a seat of higher studies and research along with retaining its reputation as an unparalleled institution for undergraduate studies. In today’s highly competitive environment, it is not an easy task, and we have to evolve a futuristic approach for accomplishing it. With its qualified and dedicated faculty, its diligent and meritorious students and its congenial environment, I confidently hope its centenary celebrations to become a landmark in its fresh journey for achieving new horizons of excellence as a University.
